Wokingham Auctions in the News...

Our marketing reach for auctions includes press releases to national and international publications of interest including the weekly Antiques Trade Gazette that featured Lot 127 in our July 18th sale, a Victorian silver sentry box vesta dated London, 1887 pushing the pre-sale estimate of £800-1200 to the eventual sale price of £2550 (inclusive of all taxes and charges). The new owner is a private collector from Scotland.

Silver and Diamonds sparkle at Summer Sale

A diamond encrusted tennis bracelet with a combined 7.80 carats on 18ct white gold was the star lot of our July 18th Timed Auction selling for £8,300 (fees included). A watercolour by Edward Bawden sold for just over £2,000; a keenly contested silver sentry vesta with enamelled depiction of a Coldstream Guard by Samson Mordan went to a private collector in Scotland for £2,522 while a rare silver nutmeg grater went to the London trade for £1,080

As Wokingham Town Hall is closed until August our July 18th Silver, Jewellery, Art & Collectibles sale is now a Timed Auction available online only via the-saleroom.com. Viewing is by appointment only at our weekly valuation sessions (see wokinghamauctions.com/valuations for times and venues). Payment can be made online or via BACS.

Fab Four debut album hits £12,000 high note

A Please Please Me, Beatles debut album signed by John, Paul, George and Ringo fetched just under £12,000 (inclusive of fees) at Wokingham Auctions April 27th sale at Wokingham Town Hall. Other highlights include a Young Chang 5ft 9in grand piano in a bright ebonised case for £3,500 (inclusive of fees) and a Lucie Rie bowl for £1,800.

Rare bird display went for a song

A 19th century menagerie of exotic stuffed birds (some long extinct) caused a flutter at the October 11th Wokingham Town Hall antiques auction selling to a specialist museum in Lyon, France for £2,400. A 9ct gold charm bracelet made £1,400 and a mounted Kruggerand coin on chain sold for £1,300 were other highlights writes Phil Creighton (of The Wokingham Paper on October 21st, 2016).
