Registration on arrival is necessary for room bidding. Allow plenty of time to register as photo ID will be required if you're new to us.
Lots are sold sequentially at a rate of 80-120 per hour.
TIMED ONLINE AUCTIONS don’t have an auctioneer calling the bids or telephone bids – there’s just a bidding time frame and whoever bids highest during the time frame wins. If someone bids higher than your ‘maximum’, you will receive an 'outbid alert' via email to let you know, so you can decide whether to bid more.
Each lot can be bid on for a defined time period. At the end of this period (usually 10-days), the bidder who has submitted the highest bid wins the lot, provided the bid exceeds the reserve price.
We can manage absentee or commission bids for you as usual, only bidding enough for you to meet the reserve or stay in the lead.
If a bid is placed in the last 5 minutes of the defined time period, the time period will be extended by 5 minutes.
Once the auction has concluded, you will receive an invoice by email with a link to our online payment facility as well as collection and shipping information. Timed Auctions are accessible only from the-saleroom.com and the buyers commission is an all inclusive 23% +VAT
Absentee or commission bids are useful if you cannot attend in person by leaving your maximum bid and the auctioneer will endeavour to buy the item as cheaply as possible.
For example, if your maximum bid is £100 and the last bid in the room is £60 then you win the item at the next increment of £65.
Telephone bids (UK numbers only) can be arranged for lots with a minimum value / low estimate price of £200, subject to available lines.
Note: All absentee and telephone bidding requests must be registered to us by 6pm the evening before each sale day.
Understand associated costs and charges:
Buyers Premium: The buyer shall pay the Auctioneer a commission at the rate of 20% on the hammer price, plus VAT (applied only to the commission) on all individual lots.
For example on a hammer price of £100, the Buyer's Premium amounts to £20 and the VAT on the Buyer's Premium amounts to £4, giving a total amount due of £124.
All live bidding purchasers will receive an electronic invoice the day after the sale to complete payment online.
All other payment by bank transfer please.

Please ensure that all bank charges are paid in addition to the invoice total, in order to avoid delays in release of the items. Goods will only be released upon clearance of all monies due.
We accept cash only up to £8,000 and all major debit (no credit cards) cards drawn only from a UK bank and registered to a UK address. No card payments by telephone.
Items can be paid for and removed during the auction, but do give staff time to generate your invoice (online bidders need to wait until the auction is finished) until 5pm on auction day and the following Monday from 9-4pm at Wokingham Town Hall after which all items are removed to secure storage and redeemable only by appointment. Pack 'N' Send and Mailboxes operate independently of Wokingham Auctions, so postage and packaging will need to be organised and paid direct to their team. Upon being paid, Pack 'N' Send or Mailboxes will send their team to Wokingham Auctions to collect the item and organise shipping
However, for smaller items like jewellery, watches, vesta cases, etc we offer a Jiffy Bag (size 00) service via Royal Mail Special Delivery (21cm x 12cm) for jewellery, watches, vesta cases etc.
£12.50 plus VAT includes insurance up to £500 (excluding glass and ceramics)
Whilst we endeavour to pack items as well as we can, we will NOT be held responsible for any damage or loss to items sent. By paying for our in-house packing and shipping service the buyer agrees that any items sent are entirely at the buyer's risk and that NO compensation can be offered by Wokingham Auctions for any loss or damage.
If you were bidding via saleroom.com or EasyLiveAuction.com due to increased security measures, we will only despatch parcels to the registered cardholders address. Any requests for parcels to be sent to an alternative address are at the discretion of the auctioneer.
Items are sent a minimum of a week following the sale and cannot be guaranteed for a specific date.
Any discrepancies with sold items must be brought to our attention within 21 days of the sale date.
